First let me get it into the open... I don't
care about grammar and great spelling and perfect English. There
its out. Don't waste time emailing me about it. It isn't relevant.
I WONT RESPOND.
I left school with my bag. That was it.
Exams... never did them. Any kind of level... not me. Life isn't like
that. Not for me.
That's why before I send out any copy or
sales letters, all my writing for clients goes out to FIVE
proofreaders for a final checks. They do the dots, commas and all that English
stuff.
Its in the message. Want to sell
more? Course you do. Its in the message first and foremost. Its
the message that sells. That's what I do... the message.
Ever met a perfect speaking Englishman? Find
it hard to relate to them? May be not, but ever read some copy by
them? Its like reading a foreign language to most people. Its most
people that buy your products, the ones that relate to common
speak.
Accents are wonderful. Yorkshire,
Lancashire, Glasgow, Kentucky, Paris. Language shows the color and
beauty of speech. It livens and stimulates the hearer to listen.
It creates response.
In the UK at this time most news agencies
seem to be targeting presenters with strong accents. That's not an
accident. It works. Words through speech.
How about words on paper though. Is it the
same? You bet it is. Accents and personalities come through in
words. If we all wrote like the way we were shown at school
nothing would ever get read.
Words have to be rich, flowing, powerful,
emotional. The color, zeal and passion have to jump out of the
pages. Grammar doesn't come into. Want a fight? Me neither, don't
waste time on perfect grammar. It has no relevance to reaching any
target.
Targets want to feel through the words. They
want to be part of it. They want to know you are an expert. You
will look after them if they respond to the message.
Now that's the truth. Grammar... if you want
it perfect, don't contact me, I just don't believe in it.
