Look Who's Talking Now!
Hey,
You’ve noticed
audio on just about every website now right?
But you know I
have discovered one dead simple tip for you that will increase a
page response dramatically.
I have tested
this on my own and clients websites.
PAGES WITH A
BUTTON THAT YOU *HAVE TO* CLICK PLAY.
Although adding
audio saw an increase in response it wasn’t massive enough to be
measured.
PAGES THAT
HAVE AUTOPLAY AUDIO WHEN VISITOR ARRIVES.
Increase this
time was dramatic. Increase was seen in sales. Response forms.
Email response. General feedback. One person I met face to face
at a recent event told me the reason she bought her ticket was
the reassuring effect of the audio on arrival.
That page went
from a minus 1% response to a 5.4%.
Anymore tips
that’ll make your website audio work? Sure do this.
-
Talk as you
would talk naturally.
-
Don’t force it
or try and fake an accent.
-
Be clear and
specific.
-
Keep it less
than 2 minutes.
-
Use the audio
to encourage them to read the page copy (words)
-
Write down notes
of what you will say and in an order that fits your page.
-
STAND UP when
you talk it gives you a much clearer sound.
-
Use a decent
microphone.
Lock the dog away
(it never sounds good with the hound of the Baskervilles in the
background ;-)
Now a point on
notes for audio. Don’t write it out word for word. Why? It’ll
sound as though you are reading it regardless of how hard you
try to make it sound otherwise.
Should you have
it scripted by a copywriter? I would say NO unless you
are totally stuck but I don’t believe it’ll help it sound right.
KEEP IT NATURAL. Talk as if you are talking to your
buddy!
When you have
recorded it and put it live on your website, let some friends
listen to it first, get some feedback and then go live with it.
FINAL HOT
POINT: set the audio to auto-play but make sure there is an
OFF button below it with a note saying press to turn audio off”
Two great audio
websites.
Armand Morin's Audio-generator Use this package if you
want everything done for you. You need zero technical knowledge
but great, great program. Monthly payment.
Nick
James Audio Nick has put together an idiot proof
program. Dead-simple to install. A tiny bit of FTP knowledge
needed but I do mean a tiny bit. I can do it so if I can ...
Single payment.
Ok, I'm Outta here, catch you
all soon.
