So as from today, Thursday November 06, 2008 05:22:13 I am NOT going to be sending you emails with "MORE CRAP".

No I am not having some kind of 24 hour breakdown I just want to get back to my roots.

Let me explain.

In 1982 when I began to train as a hairdresser I never want to be *just another hairdresser*.

I wanted to be NUMBER ONE, the best cash could pay for in my area. My plan was always this...

  • Deliver the very best services (cutting-edge)

  • Create the best *WOW* expereince

  • Make my clients feel amazing from the second they walk in to the second they left

It allowed me to charge more that DOUBLE that any of the 35 town salons were charging although we started from start-up when some of those had been around for 20-30 years. The reason was...

So as one of my loyal subscribers I want to tell you this and be open doing it. The last year or so I have emailed offers out for some products that I have blindly promoted just for the sake of affiliate commissions.

I have recommended tools and people I barely know as REAL HUMANS. I have also sent out stuff to my database that I haven't even tried. Was it good or bad? I don't know. I simply got swept up in the moment. Sorry, sorry, sorry!

What does this mean. Simple, you have to get of your backside, get out there and meet the right people.

It works like this.

When I began my life as a copywriter (not that long ago) I wanted to WRITE for clients. Will clients come to me at such an early stage in my career I thought. The simple answer is NO they won't. Why?

Look would you pay a guy that was cutting hair just months ago a few grand to write your next business building advertisement? Only if you are nuts you would. The real answer is... NO WAY!

So how was the ex-hairdresser, wanna-be copywriter going to get my first business in? My first client? My first copywriting pay check?

My 3 Ridiculously Simple Steps To Copywriting Profits

Step 1. I contacted the guys handling Jay Abraham in the UK. The copy they were sending out for him in my humble opinion was... garbage (the lack of results at that time reflected that).

Step 2. Do a deal with them. I would write their copy. They would let me in for free and... give me ONE HOUR to speak to the semi-corporate audience (at least one client was in there for me and I was going to get them)

Step 3. Turn up, talk and blow the audience away with my new skills! (yes of course I blew them away want to see comments from that day? )

But hang on Alan I can't afford to go to this kind of thing? Okay but let me tell you this... if you can't (or won't) invest in your business... go get a job!

Lets do some math here.

You spend a two grand to go to the Big Seminar. You meet one partner that could pull you in at least 20 grand! Now that's a pretty hefty return right?

Even better you meet at least 3 people interested in working with you!

Or you could do what hundreds of others are doing and that's this. Waste cash on advertising just *hoping* someone will see you and call you!
