How Generation Sustainable Affects Your Business

How Sustainable Is Your Business?

Here’s How The New Generation Survival Will Affect Your Business

The biggest thing you need to think about in business from 2023 onwards is the sustainable mindset of the buying public.

Think about it.

The public is now inundated with messages of extinction, survival, end times, pandemics and the sustainability of everything. This is dropping into their pockets daily. Fear has never been so great.

Is it pollution, plastics, global warming, BREXIT, COVID or something else?

Either way, this has affected the consumer in ways that maybe you’re not taking into account. People are generally nervous and are not sure which way to turn.

The public also no longer believes what they are being told. Who is telling the truth, and who is filling minds with manipulation and lies?

Phones are designed by their nature to manipulate minds and change habits and thinking. Do you think the scrolling on a screen was accidental or carefully planned to keep you on that phone? And as you will have noticed if you have a conversation with a friend about a particular brand of shoe that shoe brand appears on your phone as an advert.

Now for the first time in history

… the buying public is asking serious questions about your business. These questions are nothing like they have asked ever in the past.

  • Is this company sustainable or part of the problem?

  • Is this company part of the destination zero-emission campaign or part of the problem?

  • Is this company circular or are they just another consumption monster?

  • Is this company trying to fool me with a token contribution?

And if you think this isn’t affecting your sales you’ve buried your head in the sand.

Let me give you a small example.

In our supermarket, we noticed that some fruits have 3-4 layers of packaging. We have used the supermarket for years. At the checkout, we decided to unpack all of our foods and leave the plastic packaging on the checkout. They weren’t happy as you can imagine.

We finally stopped shopping there. They lost the next 10 years of our custom. Can you imagine a whole local population doing that? Can you imagine if your buyers did that to you? We got sick of the lack of sustainability and plastics.

These are no longer fantasy scenarios these are realities facing many older businesses that are keeping up with the mindset of the new sustainable buying public.

The public now demands ZERO emissions. Just last year they wanted REDUCED emissions.  They want sustainability.

The public wanted less plastic. Now they are demanding ZERO plastic.

This is generation survival with sustainability on their minds

They are in tune with world events and what we are doing to the planet. That means if your company isn’t in harmony and applying sustainability with what is going on you, could be out for good.

Numbers show that loyalty from customers in business no longer has the power it used to have. If we upset a customer just once they will move. But in the survival economy, this is less and less of a choice.

Customers are now asking the bigger questions like, “Is this company part of the problem?” And if they see you are part of the problem they will boycott you until you are closed. Terrifying right?

Opportunity In The Sustainable and Survival Generation

There has never been a greater time to shine and rise above the noise. This means you must understand your buyers inside out and you must feed their minds what they are thinking.

Did you realise your customers have their own mindset and predetermined triggers that are waiting to hear the right thing? They also have B.S. detectors that can identify, well, bullshit.

It is your job to make sure every word used, every message used, and every image used represents the way your clients are thinking. Their thoughts are heavily influenced by global events. Most today are tuned into survival.

You need to take action. Are the following speaking about sustainability to your buyer?

  • Your messages (copy)

  • Your images

  • Your bigger story

  • Your videos

  • Your branding

  • Your conversation

  • Your everything

NOW IS THE TIME to audit all of these. A failure to do so is a failure to service your business.

Are they messages of hope and life that speak about the sustainability of your company and what you are doing to help the sustainable movement?

These are interesting times for any business

I recently changed my coffee shop allegiance. Why? Despite I like the rewards from my coffee shop I don’t like the way they are mass consumers of plastics and single-use objects. I know it isn’t good for the planet so I made the switch to a small independent where the guys are tuned into doing a sustainable business for planet earth.

Interesting my old coffee shop isn’t as busy as it used to be. Not because I no longer go but maybe because the customer is more informed to be able to make a choice.

Google recently released search habits for 2022. They revealed the search volume and questions being asked by the public are huge.

A little like …

sustainable clothes shop near me”

If you don’t think generation sustainability is nothing look at this.

  • They use the word SUSTAINABLE in most searches.

  • They are spending over 10.5 hours online.

  • They watch almost 80 videos a day.

  • They can decide 8-seconds or less to stay or dump your marketing.

  • And they can smell an inauthentic rat in seconds.

  • But they are spending over 44 billion annually online.

  • Almost half of the purchases are now made online.

Yet …

All of these actions are still driven by one thought and that is sustainability and survival.

  • What are they doing to be part of a sustainable planet?

  • Will their planet survive?

  • Is this company helping or destroying?

  • Can I trust these companies’ messages?

It's never a shock when an old business vanishes forever. We have had a ton of very old established businesses in the U.K. close their doors.

Why?

Stop Doing What You’ve Always Done

They just keep on doing what they’ve always done. Because it's the easy route. They employ eats of experts to rinse and repeat the same old stuff. Read and research trends and what is coming.

Make 2023 your year of change or face the consequences.

Here’s the thing.

These are changed times and unless you make sweeping changes to your sustainable outlook in your business you could be either entering a trouble zone or on your way out.

Generation sustainability is now in control. Generation survival will not allow you to do anything against the planet. They might not revolt in a way where they come and destroy your business. They simply won’t shop with you anymore.

If you want to survive you must take survival action. That starts with listening to generation survival.

Your survival mentor and guide.
